The Orwells were performing at Trees in Dallas this past Saturday as part of Spillover Fest when their show suddenly turned into a brawl between the band and venue security, as The Dallas Observer and Central Track both report.
The circumstances surrounding what unfolded are still unclear, however by all accounts they put on “a hell of a show,” and The Dallas Observer describes their performance as “evoking the aggressiveness of 80s punk”. It seems like a damaged microphone might be a small price to pay for a true punk rock revival, no?
See if you can make any sense of what went down with this fan footage below, via Central Track. The controversy really starts around 3:49, but theres some great raw artistry to be seen before then.
